Under minimal supervision, perform specialized automated drafting, digitizing, pipeline feature attribution, and minimal Quality Control duties in Gas GIS related to Land Base, Gas Storage, Transmission, and Distribution data including complex as-built work orders in compliance with CPUC, DOT, and GO regulations. As a team member, the Gas GIS specialist must work across multiple departments to support technical solutions utilizing GIS concepts, principles, development tools and analytical techniques.
Processes digital and hard copy data for inclusion in the geographic information system
Researches and interprets data from engineering drawings, tabular spreadsheets, and other GIS environments.
Enters gathered data into GIS database.
Analyzes and reconciles data in database for data integrity purposes and/or reporting purposes.
Supports the development of documentation for supported systems/applications and plans and conducts training for same on an as needed basis.
Designated as a user specialist in a system or process, performing other related duties as required or assigned.
Contributes to various cartographic products for engineering, planning and/or research projects.
Senior Gas GIS Specialist (SA4 / Exempt)
Perform a quality check of attributes, spatial location, database structure, and connectivity of completed work in the Gas Enterprise GIS related to: Land Base, Gas Storage, Transmission, and Distribution data and work order packages, regulator stations, cathodic station installations, and leak survey maps in compliance with CPUC, DOT, and GO regulations. Establishes and maintains Gas GIS accuracy and mapping standards to meet safety, reliability, gas mapping, and gas standard requirements. Trains and mentors associate/technical employees. As a team member, the Senior Gas GIS Specialist must work across multiple departments to support technical solutions utilizing GIS concepts, principles, development tools and analytical techniques and provide guidance to team members.
