Overview

The individual in this position will have primary responsibility for collecting and processing various geospatial datasets (e.g., satellite remote sensing data including MODIS, Landsat, Sentinel, OC0-2 etc.; climate data such as precipitation and temperature; and agricultural data from USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service) for the Southern Great Plains. Other responsibilities include preparing GIS maps, summary reports, and other technical support for GIS project implementation and operation. Involvement in manuscript preparation is encouraged but not mandatory. The successful candidate should have knowledge on GIS and remote sensing. Previous experience on using GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS and ENVI) is highly desired. A familiarity with the SGP agricultural systems will be considered. This position requires an employee to be flexible, be able to multitask, think intuitively, implore time management and project management skills, and possess troubleshooting ability. An employee in this position should require minimal supervision and be able to use initiative and good work ethic to accomplish assigned tasks.
