Overview

Under minimum supervision, performs duties in support of the CVWD’s GIS databases, database layers, and geographic information systems capabilities; utilizes GIS tools and utilities to perform database quality checking and improvement processes; develops custom and standard maps, spatial analyses and other GIS products; and performs related duties as assigned.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Enhances, expands and maintains the Geographic Information System (GIS) of CVWD.
Assists CVWD employees with map production and analysis of spatial database information.
Provides technical support to train and assist system users in new and existing GIS applications.
Organizes, creates, manipulates, enters and retrieves GIS data for reporting, analysis and presentation purposes.
Conduct research to locate and obtain existing databases.
Gather, analyze, and integrate spatial data from staff and determine how best the information can be displayed using GIS.
Prepares metadata and other documentation.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: A minimum 2 years GIS experience or any combination of training and experience which would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities.

 

Education: An Associate’s degree or higher in Geography, Earth Science, Computer Science, Drafting, Engineering, Business or a related field from an accredited college, university, or trade school.
