St. Johns County Land Management seeks a GIS Database Administrator. This position is responsible for developing and administering a Microsoft SQL Server based ArcSDE geodatabase environment with capabilities for multi-user editing, versioning, and data replication/synchronization. Performs system administration functions as required including, but not limited to, user account administration, file security, backup and recovery, performance monitoring and trouble shooting. Performs maintenance tasks, such as compressing the geodatabase, updating statistics and rebuilding indexes. Installs, configures and upgrades database software and related products. Uses GIS software to design digital and hardcopy map products; maintains a library of frequently requested maps. Assists in the development of GIS applications for use by county staff and the general public. Develops scripts to assist in performing assigned duties. Must have knowledge of Geographic Information System hardware and software, knowledge of trends in GIS and information technology, knowledge of survey and GIS principles, knowledge of database development and management principles and knowledge of computers and job related software programs. Must be skilled in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions, in the preparation of clear and precise administrative reports and skilled in oral and written communication. Must have knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field, experience sufficient to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/ internship or having had a similar position for one to three years. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida drivers license and any other endorsements necessary to legally operate vehicles used while assigned to this position. Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills in order to serve others. Must be able to comprehend, speak and write the English language and must be able to operate a computer.
